Frequently Asked Website Questions
Q: How do I access my account dashboard?
A: On a desktop device, click on “Login” in the upper right corner. On a mobile device, open the menu at the top by tapping on “Menu” and then tap on “Login.” After entering your username/password combination, you will be redirected to your account dashboard. If not, click on “My Account” in the upper right corner. If you are already logged in, you can tap/click directly on “My Account” to access your account dashboard.
Q: I forgot my password. What do I do?
A: Click/tap “Login” and then on “Lost your Password.” You will receive a new password via email. Make sure to check your spam filter and whitelist all emails from @ncta.org.
Q: I forgot my username. What do I do?
A: Email the NCTA Webmaster at email@example.com.
Q: Am I an NCTA member?
A: Email the NCTA Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: How do I access my profile?
A: Go to your dashboard via “My Account” as described above, then click/tap “Edit Your Profile.”
Q: I want to edit my profile and want to select multiple languages/language combinations/entries in the dropdowns.
A: Keep the CTRL key pressed while selecting the desired options. Editing your profile is best done on a desktop device.
Q: I edited my profile, but I don’t show up in the “Find a Linguist” or “Find a Corporate Member” results.
A: You need to check the checkbox at the top next to “Make Your Profile Visible to the Public.” Further, new members need to be approved by the administrator. Profiles are only shown in search results for approved members who choose to make their profiles visible.
Q: I edited my profile and received a “You have reset your password” message even though I did not reset my password. Now I cannot log in, help!
A: Unfortunately, some browsers’ autofill functionality interferes and fills in the password in the “Reset password” section on your profile. You can always reset your password again via email as explained above towards the top of the page. This is a browser issue and has nothing to do with the website. To prevent further occurrences, try a different browser, disable autofill, or check that the password fields are both empty before you save your edited profile.
Q: I only want to show certain information about me, not everything. What do I do?
A: Only the profile fields that contain information will be shown to the public (if the profile is visible). All fields are optional. The section “Professional Information” at the bottom with your contact details will be shown in your public profile. The contact details in the upper section “Account Info” will not be displayed publicly, but please make sure the address in that section is accurate, if you want to receive a hardcopy of Translorial. Otherwise, we are not able to send you your copy.
Q: I entered my address, but it’s not shown in my profile.
A: The section “Professional Information” with your contact details will be shown in your public profile. The contact details in the section “Account Info” will not be displayed publicly.
Q: I can’t see certain pages such as the Translorial archive.
A: Certain pages for members only are hidden behind the member login. If you can’t see them, you are likely not logged in.
Q: Where is the option to renew my membership?
A: Certain pages for members only are hidden behind the member login. You need to log in, then the renewal page can be found under Members > Renew Membership. You can also renew directly from your “My Account” dashboard.
Q: Help! I let my membership lapse. How do I re-join?
A: Go to the registration page and follow the instructions. If your membership lapsed after February 15, 2018, you already have an account on the NCTA site, so please select the option “I have an existing account.” If you forgot your account username or password, see above how to retrieve these.
Q: I signed up as an individual or corporate member, but would like to have my membership auto-renew every year. What do I do?
A: Go to your account dashboard (see above) and enter your recurring payment information. Then email the NCTA Administrator at email@example.com with your request.
Q: Where is your chat and discussion forum?
A: The website does not contain a chat or discussion forum. However, NCTA has a members-only forum on Yahoo here.
Q: I read the whole FAQ to here and still have questions. What now?
