Looking back at 2022, NCTA resumed in-person meetings and social events while still holding some events on Zoom for those of our members who live away from the Bay Area. Our Continuing Education Director position, which had been vacant for a while after long-time CE Director Judit Marin retired, is now filled, and our new Director Anja Fulle is busy planning new workshops and webinars. We will start the new year with a bang–that is, an in-person workshop on business structures in January in Oakland. We also have an ongoing multilingual book club, and many other social events planned. Watch this website for details.
We were also present on social media and posted new articles on Translorial.com, our online journal. If you haven’t subscribed yet, do it now so you will be automatically notified whenever there is a new article.
And finally, our website got a facelift and is now easier to navigate, with a dedicated Member Area (you need to be logged in to view it) with all your membership details, your profile, and exclusive membership benefits at your fingertips. Speaking of membership, for many of you your renewal date is coming up (check your Member Area for the exact date) and we hope you continue to support NCTA for the same low price the membership has always been (no inflation adjustment!).
Don’t forget to update your member profile to showcase new accomplishments, new areas of expertise, and make sure your contact information is up to date. The website now hides all member email addresses by default and every member gets their own exclusive contact form, which dramatically reduces scams and spam. If you haven’t done so recently, search for yourself by name to make sure your profile looks exactly the way you want it and that clients have a way to contact you — you do need to opt into the profile, your profile is otherwise hidden by default!
