Webinar: Interpreting for Asylum Seekers

July 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

$35

The webinar will cover the basics of asylum law and application process, discuss the interpreter role and ethical responsibilities, and review the details of affirmative asylum procedures, including interview. Participants will receive a monolingual glossary, exercises for sight translation and consecutive interpreting at an affirmative asylum interview.

This webinar was developed based on the experience Olga Bogatova gained since she started interpreting in the legal/community field in 2016. This workshop is language-neutral and, in addition to court interpreters, is suitable for medical or community interpreters who have recently started working with asylum seekers.

Presenter: Olga Bogatova

Previously trained as a scientist, Olga Bogatova switched over to translation and interpreting in 2010 and got certified as a medical interpreter by NBCMI and CCHI.

Olga Bogatova provides quality translation and interpreting services in Russian to businesses and individuals locally and globally. As a certified Russian interpreter and translator with over 10 years of experience, she specializes in medicine, life sciences, and business.

While providing language services to the Russian-speaking community in the Bay Area, she found a great demand for interpreting and translation services amongst recent migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
