Now that working from home is the new normal even for most interpreters, it is essential to know how to protect your computer and other devices from malicious attacks. This webinar will cover basic cybersecurity for language professionals. We’ll discuss a variety of important topics, from Antivirus software over HIPAA and Virtual Private Networks to Zombies. You’ll learn how to secure your internet connection while doing remote interpreting for depositions, interview, medical appointments. We’ll discuss how to keep your and your clients’ personal data safe. The webinar will close with a Q&A session.
Specific topics covered include:
- Passwords, passphrases, and hacking
- Internet security: routers, Wifi, and VPNs
- Securing other (mobile) devices
- HIPAA, remote interpreting etc.

About the presenter
Carola F. Berger is an ATA-certified English>German translator, specializing in patent and scientific/technical translation. She holds a PhD in physics and a master’s degree in engineering physics. The nature of her work, which is highly confidential, as well as her current role as NCTA Webmaster necessitates that she has up-to-date cybersecurity knowledge.
