Join us for an online workshop about subtitling. The workshop will be language neutral, with into-English examples applicable to other language pairs. A significant practical portion will be followed by a discussion. We will have time for Q+A and practice with software.
Subtitling has very specific features, technical challenges and creative requirements that greatly differ from other translation specializations. Not every translator is readily equipped to subtitle media. However, many translators in the professional world are increasingly asked or inclined to translate and localize video content.
This workshop is designed for translators who wish to learn to subtitle, so they can add this service to their portfolio, or for novice subtitlers who wish to hone their skills.
This workshop is taught in English and offers lots of hands-on exercises. Some of the subtitle examples will be in Spanish, but other languages will also benefit from the point illustrated. Participants will be required to download and install Subtitle Edit in their computers to make the most of the practical side of the workshop.
