Summary:

We will be presenting a webinar on how to prepare for the ATA certification exam with three great presenters: David Stephenson, Chair of the ATA Certification Committee, and two NCTA members (Carola Berger and Andrea Goethals) who took the exam in person and online, and passed!

This presentation will be of interest to attendees seeking a better understanding of ATA‘s certification exam and program. David Stephenson, Chair of the ATA Certification Committee, will discuss the nature of the exam, assessment criteria, and upcoming changes in the program, including the further rollout of online testing. He will answer questions about certification policies and procedures and provide tips on how to prepare for the exam.

David Stephenson

David Stephenson, CT, an ATA-certified Croatian>English, German>English, and Dutch>English translator, is the chair of ATA’s Certification Committee. He is a freelance translator of German, Dutch, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, and Papiamentu into English, specializing in civil litigation and creative nonfiction.

Carola Berger

Carola F Berger

Carola Berger, PhD, CT is a German into English and English into German translator. She is ATA-certified in both language directions, holds a PhD degree in physics and a Master’s degree in engineering physics. She specializes in the translation of patents and technical texts in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, electronics, blockchain, and other innovative topics.

Andrea Goethals

Andrea Goethals

Andrea Goethals is an ATA-certified French to English translator and a French<>English interpreter. She recently graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA in May 2021 with a master’s in Translation and interpretation. She’s currently based in California and works as a part-time translation project manager for a local translation company, as well as a freelance translator and interpreter, specializing in legal documents, arts & culture content and human rights topics.
