NCTA International Book Club
December 4, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - January 25, 2022 @ 5:00 pmFree
***Our first book club meetup will be held on December 4th in San Francisco (exact location TBD) at 3:00pm.***
The International Book Club is a book club for NCTA members and non-members who want to join our NCTA community.
If you love to read translated books, either in English or in your native language, join us!
We’ll read and discuss fiction books that have been translated in English and other languages. We will read one book every two months, starting this November and December. Then as follows: January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August, September/October… We’ll meet once every two months (in person or on Zoom) to discuss the book! Feel free to organize a meetup in your area!
You can choose to read the selected books in the original language or in any available translation. Discussions will focus on traditional book club themes as well as aspects of translation that arise.
We know that free time is precious and rare, so feel free to join us whenever you can! The more the merrier!!!
Please sign up below, it doesn’t commit you to anything, except to receiving book club information 😉
Our first book will be Sweet Bean Paste by Japanese writer Durian Sukegawa (translated in English by Alison Watts, and in other languages, such as French, Spanish and German. Please check if it’s available in other languages). It is a lovely story about friendship, love and loneliness in contemporary Japan.
Hoping to see many of you soon!
