Workshop: A Journey from Translation To Localization

Localization professionals are in high demand worldwide. How can translators add localization to their portfolio? What are the requirements to work in localization at high-tech companies in Silicon Valley? Raffaella Buschiazzo shares her experience moving from a career as a freelance translator to managing content localization at Salesforce. She describes what it is like to work in the field and explains which skills are most helpful.
About the Presenter:
Raffaella Buschiazzo is Localization Lead Program Manager at Salesforce in San Francisco, where she manages the localization of all technical product documentation. She has been working in the localization industry for over twenty years, starting in 1997 at a financial software company in Geneva, Switzerland. Since 2005 she has worked in localization for Silicon Valley companies including Apple, Cisco, and Ask.com. She has an MA in Translation and postgraduate degrees in Terminology and Automated Translation from the University of Geneva. She worked as a freelance translator for over a decade, and served on the NCTA Board from 2005 to 2011.

Registration: Early payment is advised in order to secure participation and help reach the workshop minimum participation. Unfortunately, workshops may occasionally have to be canceled or rescheduled if the confirmed participation in advance is very low. NCTA will not be responsible for any consequential losses to participants arising from this.
Cancellation policy: Refunds are issued only if notice of cancellation is received one week prior to the applicable workshop date. A cancellation fee of $10 is charged for all cancellations.
